What We Do Here

At Tricia’s Harmony House Childcare, I will provide quality care for ages 6 weeks through 6 years old or the end of their kindergarten year. I use the app called TinyBeans to post photos of the children’s activities each day, so parents will have a secure way to see what’s happening!

Our typical day usually involves a routine that is similar to this:

7:00-8:00am Arrivals
8:00-9:00am Open play
9:00-9:30am Snack
9:30-11:30am Play either indoors (music circle, yoga, crafts, experiments) or outdoors* (neighborhood walk, water play, sandbox, experiments)
11:30-12:30 Lunch
12:30-3:00 Naps (children are allowed to wake up at their own pace and leave the nap room to avoid waking other children)
3:00-3:30 Snacks
3:30-5:00 Play indoors or outdoors* until pick-up

Tricia’s Harmony House celebrates holidays according to the children’s interest. I use creative, hands-on, nature-based curriculum to implement our daily activities. I strongly believe that children need to explore and be given the opportunities to learn through natural interactions through play. I welcome any family traditions to share will all the children in my care. My curriculum doesn’t include any religious instructions.

Child-appropriate television is used very rarely and only to foster current curriculum or as a transition tool. I would be happy to discuss this further if you have questions!

*Outdoor play is very important at this daycare! We try to go outside every day of the year if the weather allows. Exceptions include if it is raining or snowing heavily, or if the temperatures are below 20 degrees or above 90 degrees.

Types of Activities

The children in my care participate in a variety of activities based on the development and needs of each age group. Some of these are:

Infants/Toddlers: Crawling, exploring, art sensory, singing, finger plays, reading books together, sign language, and outside time.

Preschool: Imaginative play, art, music, and movement, outside activities, puzzles, Legos and other building materials, reading, writing, cooking, and science projects.

School Age: Board games, art, free play, outdoor play, and occasionally a cooking project.

A daily schedule will be followed for preschool children. Infants and toddlers will follow their own schedule but will be provided with activities throughout the day. Activities will include experiences that will:

  • Encourage use and development of language
  • Develop large and small muscle skills
  • Encourage creativity, cultural awareness and imaginative play
  • Develop  a positive self-image
  • Provide indoor and outdoor activities
  • Provide active and quiet activities
  • Provide individual and group activities
